I would like to introduce the New Breed of PT
The Procrastinating Trainer (PT)
Does Your ‘to do’ list linger longer than a bad fart under the bed covers?
IF you answered yes, then you are a PT my friend. If not let’s see
Here are a few questions I want you to ask yourself and be honest.
If you answer yes to any of the following statements you may just be that Procrastinating Trainer
I put things off until the last minute or forget about them entirely
I spend more time on Facebook than I do with my clients
I’m as nosey as Pinocchio and look at other trainers and their faults more than my own
It is not quite perfect yet, so I won’t release it just quite yet (Still waiting to aren’t you)
You start your day off checking emails and play catch up all day long
Moan about how your productivity is crap
I could go on and on but then I would be procrastinating to finish this mini blog ;).
A wise man once said that “Action Cures Fear” (Aragon 2014)
Are you procrastinating because of fear of failure or what others may think?
Quite often with my EFMers they fear what other fitness professionals may think about their posts.
Are other fitness professionals your target audience? The chances of they are no. Why Worry then?
Make sure you serve your target audience well and you appeal to them. Write/record what they want to hear and see, don’t try to impress other trainers
If you can take anything from reading this today, take that.
Procrastinating Busting Strategies
1, Plan, Take Action and then tweak
You will never feel ready. Check this great blog out from James Clear, on successful people start before they feel ready
(The Richard Branson Story is a must read on the blog)
2, Do not have more than 6 things to do on that day. You won’t be able to consistently do more than that. A big to do list will make you feel like you are always in catch up mode from the off.
3, Start your day in power- Dedicate time for you and look after you first and foremost. The saying fitting your own oxygen mask first springs to mind here. We spend the majority of our time looking after others and forget about our own well-being and self-progression.
4, Surround yourself with successful people, that take action. Being held accountable by a coach or a community is great
Our clients’ tell us how wonderful the accountability we give them, so why not have that for you and your business.
5, Ask yourself this, What is the worse that can happen?
If it doesn’t kill anyone or affect you providing for your family, then why not take action?
Next time you find yourself drifting towards the easy tasks, that will just keep you ticking over move away and look at the more challenging ones. They are far more rewarding that will help transition you and your business to far greater things than you could ever imagine.
